IN everything… FOR everything

“Be thankful” is a clear mandate in God’s Word! Besides who is to be thankful I’ve been pulling verses to teach me: when and what for and how and where to be thankful…

  • Who gives thanks?

Paul’s Prayer (in Colossians 1:9-12) asks God: to fill all believers with spiritual wisdom, understanding, good fruit…joyfully giving thanks to God as qualified-saints.

  • When and What for?

Always giving thanks to God the Father for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 5:20)

In everything give thanks. For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

  • How do I give thanks?

“…and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you f to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light. (Colossians 1:12)

  • Where should I give thanks?

And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:17)

  • Why should I give thanks?

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! (1 Corinthians 15:57)

As Your saint, LORD, help me always to be joyfully-thankful in and for everything, by thought, word and action, because of the Victory You have given me in Jesus! 🙌🏽

Finding the Joy-Way

Me: I have such Peace … I really have Joy!

Child: How is that even possible?

Me: Because I know God is out for my good each day… even in this.

Child: How’d you get like this?

Me: Life experience; walking with God through all sorts of mess. He’s never left me. He’s held me up. He’s brought amazing life-change from every incident. You have to look for it sometimes.

Child: What about when He’s not answering? He doesn’t show me what to do and I can’t find what I’m looking for.

Me: There”s a Joy-Way you can live. It takes believing He’s trustworthy… through grief, and loss, and waiting, and sickness, and especially in darkness. I believe He loves me and He’s listening to me.  I can rest that work is being done and there’s a better way coming.

Child: This sounds hard.

Me: It gets easier over time.

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6, 7 Amp.

He Does Restore!

I waited so long… 7 years in-fact. My “right hand, little brain” pushed away from me somewhere near 16 years old and didn’t come back until 22.

It was, as they say, a slow fade. So frustrating for any parent. Growth and change are necessary, but hard. Especially when you realize an unseen division has taken place. When I sensed an issue I tried several things: conferences, mother-daughter dates, heart-to-heart talks, counseling. Prayer, prayer, prayer…

But there was a barrier I could not get past. And life was increasingly and overwhelmingly full!! It was as if we were slowly being pulled apart… until suddenly a treasure was gone. Heart-closeness with my daughter had been lost. Tragic.

So, I began fasting regularly, seeking promises for return & renewal.

And God answered. In His time. In His way. He answered ALL of my pleas and more! He gave me back my precious daughter x10. More than I even dared imagine. Richer, stronger, and deeper is our bond today.

I understand the reasons now… we shared everything, even the really hard and hurtful stuff. It makes sense, but it isn’t easy to look back on. Instead, we decided to forgive each other, trust God with the past and praise Him for the future. He won’t allow anything to be wasted and that I will hold on to. That I will look for daily.

God IS good. He does restore. Praise Him!

2nd time around: Eat To Live!

Our daughter is still in the Lyme struggle, post SOT Therapy about 20 days, with The Genesis Center and Dr. Sloan. Wow! It’s been a looong journey from that 2014 tick bite and rash… her 2016 health-crash and 2017 diagnosis 😱

It’s all been a process with slow steps in the right direction. Slow but steady. We are much wiser and more knowledgeable on this disease. Who would’ve thought she would be asked to run such a marathon? But God uses all things for His Glory! – and so everyday becomes a look out for blessing 🙌🏽

As far as change goes, I see progress. She’s had fewer sick days and a little more laughter, there’s even talk of future plans. General numbers look better from blood work, but detailed testing won’t happen for quite a while.

In the meantime, Sarah accepted the “42 day challenge” -from Dr Furhman’s book: Eat To Live. Thisnutritarianplan avoids all processed foods, focusing on eating only nutrient-dense plants that are high in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. A total Immuno-therapy!

This will gives a healing body the best fighting chance against all that’s going on in cell structure. It’s come with a lot of pushing from me, so I’m doing it too! Pray for her if you think of it 🙏🏼 This is like a total re-training of your mind & body. Vegan x 10!

Glad to support such a worthy cause 😉

Be still

I took a nice long walk this morning, talking to God. Thankful for blessings, amazed over answers to prayer and frustrated that some issues continue… after years.

I thought of the prodigal son‘s father- watching, waiting. I think most parents understand. I thought of that one lost lamb who didn’t come to the pen when the others were gathered. Where was he? How did he get separated?

I thought of the Great Shepherd setting out to look. Leaving His 99 corralled behind. I thought of Him finding and carrying that little one home on His strong shoulders. I thought Him watching me now, as I walked along.

His eyes always see.

I listened to Psalms on audio and was astounded again how the writers knew just how I feel. Their words spoke for me -today. God was near and He understood. He had heard it all before, He was not amazed. He understands. He knows me.

I can trust. Blessings, frustrations, lost sheep, and prodigal children. I am His. Be still and know, He is in control.

Free to Enjoy!

Fasting weekly (from Thursday at 4 to Friday at 4) for the last 4 months has brought some great revelations and insights. What my friend Bobbi and I call these, Freedom Friday‘s because by Friday, God consistently has brought us a word of encouragement. Something freeing to the soul and many times our revelations have correlated. 😍

We have predominately spent these days praying for our children, striving to see where God is working in their lives. No matter how old they grow, they’re still our babies. Momma’s remember and we all long for them to love and serve God for themselves.

My kids are young adults now. Gentle guidance and friendship have replaced hand-on parenting. However, from protection to wisdom, to guidance to a strong consciencefervent prayers never stop! What a blessing it is to have this amazing gift! Lifting up their concerns to God. ❤️

I enjoy my mom-role with the young people in my house. Ones I birthed and several I didn’t. I like hearing their ideas and I love taking part in their lives. If only through prayer – I find it an honor to participate. It’s a real joy.

God is teaching me freedom as I – sacrifice in fasting, participate with Him in prayer, and watch Him at work. He is forever making life richer and bringing new ways to know Him deeper.

Join us for Freedom Fridays? We will be praying…

Free to love my country

How interesting it has been to travel to other lands and meet people who love their countries. They are so proud to show us around and quick to tell us why their nation is wonderful.

We hear political discussions and see that, just as in our country, citizens wish for changes to laws and leaders. However, local flags fly high and pride remains. There is no disrespect of their country as a whole.

How then has disrespect come to America? US citizens have mixed up pride in the nation with whoever is in office? Policy’s that may be frustrating – with patriotism and a flag flying. Does anyone realize this is unique ti America?

This is so strange to see …disrespect for our nation? Our name? Citizenship? Those who serve our country in the military?

I am thankful to be from the United States. I am grateful to live in a land of freedom that so many want to come to. I’m blessed to have the privilege to vote and voice my opinion. I’m proud to be an American, I hope you are too! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

God weeps?

I’ve been reading Jeremiah – the so called, “the weeping prophet”- yet have learned from various commentaries that it is ambiguous at best regarding who exactly is weeping!

What if it’s not the prophet Jeremiah, but God who does this crying:like a high-pitched flute of Moab” Jeremiah 48:36. The sorrow overwhelming, as sins of various nations grew and their refusal to repent happened again and again. What a thought.

I’m in Spain today, walking among so many nations and I can not get these words out of my mind. So many languages, cultures, traditions… all differ from mine, religious beliefs and moral beliefs. My heart aches for anyone who does not know the Way, the Truth and the Life.

I find myself praying constantly for all the souls we walk passed. God knows each name… every birthdate… every death-date… and every moment between. Nothing passes His notice.

“For the eyes of the LORD roam to and fro over all the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

Every soul matters to God! Every soul has a purpose in Him. Every soul is loved, cherished and was purchased with an extraordinary price. I can only imagine that God weeps when His creation does not recognize Him and refuses to come to Him.

“For by Messiah all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him.” Colossians‬ ‭1:16‬

What an awesome scene… to ponder the music of His tears.

Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth, for I Am God and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22

Free of Anger

I wrote last time about how angry and frustrated I used to be. Along with a book that opened my eyes, I adopted some daily guides to ensure I would not go back to being that angry mom again.

Steps to a peaceful heart:

  • Wake up thankful! I could list what needs to be done, rehash yesterdays hasty word, or wish the weather was different… instead I choose every morning to say Thank You God for as many things I can think of. Life & Love are #1❤️
  • Feast on God’s Word! After making coffee, my next stop is journal & Bible. Wherever I am or how I feel, this draws my focus to God. Somedays there are no words, so I go back and read. Laugh or cry- God is good.
  • Fast from negative talk! …TV, radio, social media, even certain people. Negative, angry venues receive limited or no access for my own peace of mind. It’s just too easy to be influence by a complaining spirit.
  • Quickly forgive! My mom used to tell me, “keep short-accounts” – let nothing fester. Seeking wisdom to know what needs to be hashed-out and what can be tossed-out is important. Daily I ask for this, especially raising teens & young adults. Helps in marriage too.
  • Ask for forgiveness! Even at 50 this can be difficult, but when I’m wrong or hurtful – this is the first right. It makes everything better.
  • Let Go! Not sweating over the small stuff or the big stuff, but taking everything to God in prayer and leaving it there – made a huge difference. Trying to see He has a plan beyond mine and I can trust Him to even use the chaos, really helped me too.

It all takes practice, but these help keep my spirit calm and quiet. How about you?
