“With me, Without me”

David’s dad has an old tree beside his log cabin. Actually 2 trees grown together. They remind me of best friends in a long marriage, mushed at the bottom and twisted at the middle, like they’re holding hands. ❤️

Poppy told me that years ago when he cleared the land to build his house he purposed to save them. “It’s rare to find trees that grow together,  they’re too strong to ever fall down.” A life lesson right outside the kitchen window.

My parents had a long marriage and my in-law’s do too. I pray we follow in their steps, with our children after us… growing together into each other’s open spaces, until it’s hard to tell us apart.

Like one of the movie lines my husband and I love: “with me (or) without me?” With is always better. Together we are stronger. Until after years of slowly merging, marriage becomes like one big tree. Too strong to fall down. -Anna
