In the shadow

Things are in an uproar all over the world. 2020 started out fairly normal, but sure changed fast. I went from being concerned with how the pets were relating in our house – to the life and safety of each person!

The new terrible flu, on the other side of the world, spread and swept up country after country landing on our doorstep. With a son who’s a paramedic and a DIL who’s in medical services – the threat became real.

Add to that, surgery for one of our college kids at the onset of national quarantine, and the stress really ramped up. My jaw began to lock. What was God up to? What is going on?

Most of the time it’s not for us to know. We wait. We hope. We pray for immediate needs. And as I’ve written 100+ times, it’s a choice to trust Him in the midst of it.

“He is Yahweh, He will do what is good in His sight.” 1 Samuel 3:18

I love the faith of the old priest Eli. He saw some terrible things happening. He knew he was also guilty of looking the other way. Judgement was coming. Yet he says here, God is good.

Yes He is! I rest in the fact that our Sovereign God will do what is good in His sight. In that one statement I’m there, in His shadow, under His wings. Safe today. You are too.
