“Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act.” Psalms 37:4-5
For years my desires seemed so unfulfilled. I sweated and worked hard to achieve my goals; countless hours were spent in the ballet studio perfecting skills to get me where I wanted to go.
It took countless tries and fails, accepting lesser positions than I desired… until finally I surrendered all. I told God I was willing: to do what He wanted, to go where He wanted, to serve how He wanted. All of me for all of Him.
He answered that prayer, giving me new desires that quickly fulfilled all that longing. I got the opportunity to travel throughout the U.S. dancing with a Premiere Christian ballet company… sharing the Gospel and giving my testimony. I was living with and learning from other believing dancers, all top in their field. Amazing years…
And then Prince Charming showed up and swept me off my feet. Quite literally, carrying me away to a life of love, children and adventure! Such joy I’d never considered or imagined for myself. God’s plan was turning out to be so much bigger than mine.
What if it’s not our desires that God grants… what if it’s Him putting His desires in our hearts? His will actually becoming ours when we delight ourselves in Him? Any loss for me has meant gain in the hands of my LORD, because His plans blew mine out of the water!
