I have had to pull out threads and start again 100’s of times. Like most things, sewing success is all about trial and error.

I had no idea, back in David’s law school days as I decided to take lessons, what a wonderful skill this is: mending, making, and remaking clothing. And learning self-control and patience came along with it. Just a fun project for me or sewing an order for others, practicing peace in the midst of a problem has grown my trust in Jesus.

I sat with a sweet young girl recently, who’s learning the basics and told her the good news… it gets better! The more you try the better you will become. And today, YouTube offers amazing videos for problem solving- so many cool tricks by professionals. I never had that.

Getting hung up on the things that go wrong, becoming overly frustrated or angry doesn’t help anything. Messes are just part of life and learning. Breathe, relax, call a sewing friend for advice. Keep your seam-ripper handy. If you don’t know what to do next, look it up on YouTube. Stop, pray and try again. ⭐️Keep your machine clean of fuzz and properly oiled. Re-thread often (!) and change your needle per project (type of fabric). Believe me, learning to sew saves a fortune! And you just might love it -like I do❤️ Anna

ForGlorySake.com

Sewing & Jesus Tangled thread, dull needle, a bobbin that ran-out, twisted seam… sewing is froth with delays and mishaps. 38 years ago my first teacher warned me, “your seam-ripper will be your best friend.” She was right!
