If I hear it again today, I won&#8217;t be surprised&#8230; it&#8217;s a hot topic! But for me a <em>don&#8217;t-list<\/em> feels abstract and un-useful, I need a <em>be-list.<\/em> Tell me what to <strong>be like<\/strong>, as in who to emulate, and how to behave. Yes, Jesus is number one, but I want specifics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I grabbed a Greek translation and a dictionary to clarify my own <strong>list of characteristics to aim for<\/strong> &#8211; these are the opposites of 2 Timothy 3:2-4.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> BE<em>:<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>unselfish<\/strong> instead of self loving<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>giving\/generous<\/strong> instead of loving money<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>quiet<\/strong> instead of boastful<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>humble <\/strong>instead of proud<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>gentle\/honoring<\/strong> instead of abusive to parents<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>obedient<\/strong> instead of disobedient<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>thankful <\/strong>instead of ungrateful<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>acting holy<\/strong> instead of unholy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>loving<\/strong> instead of not loving<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>calm\/rational<\/strong> instead of implacable <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>honest <\/strong>instead of slanderous<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>self controlled<\/strong> instead of without any<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>kind<\/strong> instead of savage\/fierce<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>admiring of good<\/strong> instead despiser of good<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To me the most shocking on this<strong> <\/strong>list is the last one, <em><strong>&#8220;despiser of good.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> When did it become popular to hate good; despise virtue?? Bad is not good, wrong is not right, abuse of any kind- is not honoring to God. Behavior still matters!
