The joke at our house is, \u201cDavid is very healthy until he\u2019s almost dying.\u201d<\/em> My sweet, patient husband has suffered innumerable medical crises since birth. In 30 years of marriage he\u2019s nearly died 4 times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have asked God more than once, why him? And yet I read in 1 Peter 2:21, \u201cFor to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in His footsteps,\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are we called to suffer? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This letter of Peter\u2019s was to \u201cthe Chosen\u201d encouraging all who \u201cendured sorrow while suffering unjustly.\u201d I feel certain Peter referred to religious persecution, however repeat physical suffering<\/em> IS repeat physical suffering. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus becomes our example in these situations: \u201cnot speaking abusively, and *not threatened,<\/em><\/strong> (Hebrew translation) instead, (<\/b>Jesus<\/em>) entrusted Himself to the ONE who judges justly<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Religious persecution or just any old trial, we are encouraged to: trust God the One and only Just Judge, who holds us closely in the palm of His hand. We never need to feel threatened, or alone, or forgotten. We are His precious ones and He will help us to<\/em> endure<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor to this you were called.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
