Chapter after chapter he\u2019s in the thick of battles and conflict, fighting, running for his life, even hiding in caves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Protect me as You would protect the pupil of  Your eye. Hide me in the shadow of  Your wings. <\/em><\/strong>Psalms 17:8<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong><em>You are my hiding place; you protect me from distress. You surround me with shouts of joy from those celebrating deliverance. (Selah)<\/em><\/strong> Psalms 32:7<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So many beautiful songs in the book of <strong>Psalms<\/strong> were written by him during his struggles. Again and again he turns to God is anguish and sorrow, but ends in hope and praise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow.<\/em><\/strong> Psalm 116:3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>I will offer to You a sacrifice of thanksgiving&nbsp;and call on the name of the LORD.<\/em><\/strong> Psalm 116:17<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several of David\u2019s songs correlate directly to the story of his life, in the books of <strong>Samuel (1 &amp; 2)<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;&#8230;when Saul sent men to watch David\u2019s house in order to kill him.\u00a0<strong>1 <\/strong><\/em><strong><em>Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;\u00a0protect me from those who rise against me.&#8221;<\/em> <\/strong>Psalm 59:1 &#8211; <strong><em>&#8220;So Michal <\/em><\/strong><em>(his wife) <\/em><strong><em>let David down through a window, and he went out and fled and escaped.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a01 Samuel 19:12<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What a great opportunity, <em>during quarantine 2020 <\/em>to read through the book of Psalms!
