{"id":4084,"date":"2019-10-18T08:39:36","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T12:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/forglorysake.com\/?p=4084"},"modified":"2020-09-28T12:16:33","modified_gmt":"2020-09-28T16:16:33","slug":"exercise-the-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forglorysake.com\/index.php\/2019\/10\/18\/exercise-the-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Exercise the Will"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Everyday I have choices: <em>how long to linger in bed, what to wear, how much coffee to drink, even whether to have a good attitude.<\/em>\u00a0As I consider my <em>&#8220;to do&#8221;<\/em> list, I can either allow it to overwhelm me, or I can exercise my will and just get going.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more,<\/em> and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.&#8221; &#8211; Paul.<\/strong>\u00a01 Thessalonians 4:10-12<\/p>\n<p><em>Do the next thing<\/em> &#8211; is a motto I live by. Instead of making long lists or strategizing how to do something&#8230; I just do it, while asking God to help. I tend to fly seat of my pants, but I&#8217;m more flexible this way, if not a tad\u00a0<em>hap-hazard.<\/em> He always gives me enough strength and energy to see it through. Like the blessing in Deuteronomy,<\/p>\n<p class=\"line-group\"><em><strong><span class=\"ln-group\">&#8220;Your bars shall be iron and bronze,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"indent\">and as your days, so shall your strength be.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ln-group\">There is none like God, O Israel,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"indent\">who rides through the heavens to your help,\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><span class=\"indent\"><em><strong>through the skies in His majesty.&#8221;- Jacob.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Deuteronomy 33:26<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I can (at the very least) choose an attitude: to obey God, be willing to serve, and live at peace with all men. I can set my will for joy<em>\u00a0and hopefulness<\/em> &#8230;or <em>sullenness and defeat<\/em>. I can choose to look at what God has <em>already done<\/em>\u00a0&#8230;or the prayers that have <em>yet to be answered.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>These are my daily exercises. And God encourages me with 100&#8217;s of His own <em>I will <\/em>verses\u00a0throughout the Bible. He promised over and over, <em>&#8220;I will,&#8221;<\/em> and then He did it.&#x2764;&#xfe0f; These challenge me to flex my own will-muscles and make good choices.<\/p>\n<p><em>I will<\/em>\u00a0walk by faith.<em> I will<\/em> remember God&#8217;s valiant deeds. <em>I will<\/em>\u00a0trust Him today.
