Maybe in your house no child has wavered<\/em> in their faith. No one has walked the road of a prodigal. There was never a blatant stand taken- opposing to God and His standards. I can\u2019t claim that and it’s left me wondering many times…\u00a0how does God want me to\u00a0<\/i>respond?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

God is perfect in His\u00a0balance of \u00a0j<\/strong>ustice & mercy.\u00a0<\/b>He has the advantage of seeing all the \u00a0motivations<\/em> of a heart. He views each life, from beginning to end. And always judges rightly. I don’t have this vision or perspective. Yet am called to live by faith<\/em>\u00a0and love unconditionally.<\/em><\/p>\n

How?<\/p>\n

“Have mercy on those who waver; save others by snatching them out of the fire; have mercy on others, coupled with a fear of God, hating even the clothes stained by the flesh. <\/i><\/b>Jude 1:22-23\u00a0<\/p>\n

For me, it\u2019s a constant evaluation of words and actions. I can not control my grown children’s behavior. I can only control my reactions. Desperate\u00a0not to hinder <\/em>God’s work in their lives, I pray\u00a0a lot and watch for that\u00a0great teacher: natural consequences<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Too much justice<\/em>\u00a0– I will ruin the relationship.<\/p>\n

Too much mercy –<\/i>\u00a0I offer no Truth.<\/p>\n

Mercy feels more loving, yet love is not real love without truthful\u00a0fear of God. Therefore<\/em>\u00a0I’m real-life\u00a0working out my salvation with fear and trembling.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0I don’t have all the answers, so I pray to err on the side of grace and\u00a0stay humble. After all, God has been so gracious to me. \u00a0<\/p>\n

He promises to be<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0faithful with whatever I entrust to Him\u00a0<\/em><\/b>and\u00a0to \u00a0finish what\u00a0<\/b>He started!<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0I know that His justice & mercy will be perfect even when mine are not.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThank You Father for knowing how to\u00a0straighten our crooked paths. You are our Rock, the One ever-present in trouble. Guide us as we parent – in Jesus\u2019 name.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
