{"id":3332,"date":"2018-09-28T08:04:37","date_gmt":"2018-09-28T12:04:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/etheriedge.wordpress.com\/?p=3332"},"modified":"2020-09-14T12:51:10","modified_gmt":"2020-09-14T16:51:10","slug":"tthe-clean-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forglorysake.com\/index.php\/2018\/09\/28\/tthe-clean-out\/","title":{"rendered":"The Clean Out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is an interesting Jewish tradition that\u00a0happens before\u00a0<strong>Passover <\/strong>each year<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>called k<em>ashering<\/em>.\u00a0A family cleans their home of all yeast and leaven; anything non-kosher, the days leading up to the holiday. It&#8217;s a reminder to repent of sinful ways as a preparation.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch of dough \u2013 you are, in fact, without yeast. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.&#8221; \u00a0<\/i><\/b>1Corinthians 5:7 NET<\/p>\n<p>Rabbis instruct, &#8220;<i>Only utensils that can be scrubbed clean should be kashered.<\/i>&#8221; Interesting that Believers are referred to as <i><b>utensils<\/b><\/i>\u00a0for God&#8217;s purposes in scripture. Jesus&#8217; sacrifice on the cross during Passover\u00a0cleansed us from sin, making us <i><b>useful<\/b><\/i> to Him.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.<\/strong><\/em> 2 Timothy 2:21<\/p>\n<p>For years I have been aware of God<em>\u00a0cleaning up<\/em>\u00a0my family. Ridding\u00a0our <strong>vice &amp; evil<\/strong>, and growing\u00a0<strong>sincerity &amp; truth<\/strong> in our hearts.\u00a0It has not always been a pleasant experience, but the results are freedom and usefulness.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<b><i>So then, let us celebrate the festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of vice and evil, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.&#8221; \u00a0<\/i><\/b>1Corinthians 5:8 NET<\/p>\n<p><em>Sanctification<\/em> is a lifelong process! Our\u00a0<i>old ways <\/i>are hard to break.
