What do you reach for when life swirls in chaos? How far do you allow yourself to be swept away in a current of worry, before you look for something to ease the strain?\u00a0Some of our pacifiers are more or less harmless, but others&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Finding relief is a wonderful feeling, yet I&#8217;ve learned in my parent support group, that many outlets chosen can instead end up hurting ourselves and others. Actions that may make me feel better for a moment could have consequences that leave terrible scars.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite <em>safe<\/em> de-stresser is meditation and art. Reading and thinking, then allowing creativity to flow. Todays verse was:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a strong mind. \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>2 Timothy 1:7\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0I always thought of this verse as a kick-you-in-the-pants thing. <em>God didn&#8217;t create me to be timid and fearful, so get yourself together.<\/em>\u00a0But as I began meditating on each word &#8211; I realized this could talking about the Spirit He put inside believers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His Spirit is not timid or fearful.<br \/>His Spirit is powerful and full of love.<br \/>His Spirit has a well-balanced mind.<br \/>It is completely\u00a0disciplined\u00a0and\u00a0self-controlled.<\/p>\n<p>And I have been filled with<em> this amazing Spirit<\/em> since I give myself to Him! He did for me what I could not do for myself, offering supernatural gifts of peace through His Holy Spirit. Amazing<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;And God has identified us as His own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything He has promised us.&#8221; <\/em><\/strong>2 Corinthians 1:22<\/p>\n<p>Now I have something bigger to rely on in the chaos. I have courage and stability of mind. I have God&#8217;s promise of something far more powerful than myself. This Spirit knows His very thoughts and lives in my heart.
